About Codemoji

Coding for kids, without the typing tax.

Codemoji teaches 1st–8th graders HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with emoji-first lessons that sidestep typing hurdles — so kids spend their time thinking, building, and shipping projects.

Our story

Codemoji started in a Chicago classroom. The original idea: if typing is the hardest part of intro programming for a 2nd grader, make the syntax visual so the thinking can start earlier. Emojis as tokens, colors as categories, drag-and-drop for structure.

Since then the platform has grown to 500+ lessons, a gradebook, and a free home tier with COPPA-aligned parent consent. We partner with schools to keep pricing simple and the experience focused on learning — not ads, not data harvesting.

What we believe

  • Kids are smart. Give them real CS, not coloring pages.
  • Teachers are the platform. We build for their workflow first.
  • Privacy is table stakes. We don't sell student data, ever.
